A system that works together
Student Management Systems (SMS), Ministry systems and Ed Tech services are a crucial part of how kura and schools operate, and Te Rito works.
Right now, there’s no easy way to bring all their information together to make it easier for schools to manage.
But when an SMS connects to Te Rito, and data from other systems and solutions is added, more information is available for connected schools to access – even if they use a different SMS.
Te Rito isn’t an SMS and isn’t replacing them – it complements them
When schools connect to Te Rito, their SMS continues to be their official source of learner information. They continue to use it for all the functions it has – including creating and updating learner records.
Te Rito works by pulling information from a range of systems and applications. This is how it enables an up-to-date, end-to-end digital record that follows each learner as they move between schools.
Integrating SMSs and Ed Tech services with Te Rito
Hero, Edge, eTAP, Kamar, Helix and Compass are connected to Te Rito and we’re working with other SMS and Ed Tech services to integrate them too.
If you’re interested in integrating, email us for copies of our current integration documents. These include the requirements you will need to meet.
See the Ministry's information for suppliers about Safer Technologies for Schools (ST4S), and what it means to have your product badged.
You can also visit our API site for technical guidance on the integration process, including how to access the sandbox environment.
