Local educators, leaders, whānau and iwi understand what's best for their communities and how to provide the right support for their ākonga and learners, centred around their strengths. We are committed to ensuring these voices are represented in the governance of Te Rito.
Working in partnership
We are co-designing and delivering Te Rito working closely with two sector working groups: Te Rau Whakatupu Māori for Māori medium and Te Rau Whakatupu Auraki for English medium.
Governance arrangements for Te Rito will be confirmed shortly and will include the chairs of the working groups.
The roll-out of Te Rito will be led by a Te Rito Steering Group, comprising sector representatives, regional representatives from Te Mahau and Ministry officials. We will start small and learn as we go with input from kura and schools as we connect them to Te Rito.
An independent Te Rito Kaitiakitanga Group will be established to provide stewardship of information held in Te Rito and make recommendations on the access and use of learner and ākonga data. Membership will comprise representatives from the education sector, whānau and families, relevant agencies, iwi, the Ministry of Education, and specialists with data expertise. We will establish an interim Kaitiakitanga Group to refine the terms of reference and develop criteria for making recommendations.
